It is a SANDISK - so I expect it to be reliable Overall write speed is okay for most Update: I am surprised about the attention this got - I was not going for accuracy - sandisk works. I'll depend on them anytime, I assume it's as good as it gets. Update: I forgot to mention - I ordered about ten of these and five crucial ones for work. People liked this design more, I liked crucial since it for better on a keychain. Speed was the same.

Both groups performed reliably, no data lost even after. Been using for a few months as a relatively permanent fixture on my Macbook Air (Mid 2013) and it works great. Things I've liked about it: - No heat issues (unlike similar small flash drives I've used in the past) - BlackMagic Speed Test consistently indicates 100MB/s transfer speeds - no random unmounts when laptop sleeps (chronic issue with sd card slot in my experience) - Adds 128GB of space to the limited storage that Apple stingily provisions f (or provides for an exorbitant upgrade fee). I use it primarily to store my photos so they dont consume a large portion of the laptop's internal ssd, while still letting me keep them in a consistent location that is always available (which is particularly useful for Referencing files in Lightroom/CP1/etc libraries), and (in my opinion) it's less of a hassle (and often faster) for this purpose than alternative solutions. It's not a DeLorian, but it reminds me of one. Other reviewers have given this product an unfair one-star because they did not like the speed when speed is clearly-posted at both this sales page and at the Kingston web site.
Many other companies do not post any speed ratings and advertise with the same 'USB 3' titles. Compare this unit to the Corsair Voyager Vega 64GB which is very similar in format and speed and is rated 4.5 stars - and costs 50% more. Both Corsair and Kingston make excellent products. The '3.1 USB' title is intended to show socket compatibility, as the new 3.1 socket is now emerging in new motherboards and devices and people want to know their investments will still work. This unit can read a 20MB file instantly and write it in a few seconds - just fine for most. I bought this flash drive within the same order that also contained a SanDisk Cruzer Fit of the same capacity.
As both were intended for use in my wife's car's audio system, the read speed is immaterial. My primary factors included exposed profile height, apparent quality of construction, brand reputation, and warranty. Silicon Power's product warranty exceeds SanDisk's warranty. I've had to use the warranty on a flash memory product TWICE (once with SanDisk, once with Transcend), so I am a believer in a good exercisable warranty program.
