Sony Vaio Vgn Nr498e Drivers For Macbook Pro
Drivers, Software, Problem Solving about VGN-NR498E (aka PCG7133L). VAIO® Notebook Computer. Conexant® Modem Driver (Windows 7 32bit).
Not possible at the moment. Installing OSX on non-Apple computers is rather tricky, and drivers and such have to be made on a per unit basis. While this MIGHT be possible in the future, it certainly is not right now without you personally writing the drivers, and considering you're looking for something that's easy, this probably isn't it. And it is NOT illegal to do this. It breaks the EULA of Leopard to do it, but the validity of EULAs have never really been tested in the court of law, and basically all that it means is that if you install Leopard on another machine then Apple doesn't have to give you support for it. I'd probably just install Windows 7.
It's an excellent operating system and will be less troublesome to get running. At the moment I'm using 'Hackintosh' 10.5.6 along with Win7 build 7000 on my PC while waiting for the Windows 7 release candidate before installing it on my new 1TB drive. At this point I feel there isn't that much in OSX that I prefer over Win7. Application installation (the simplicity of it), easier system file structure, the way OSX keeps track of file locations and more coherent keyboard shortcuts are the main things that are better. Otherwise I could use either and in some cases Win7 does better than OSX, for example the new Taskbar is a lot more useful than the Dock and the file browser is also better than Finder. I'd also wager that Win7 will run better than OSX on a netbook. Not possible at the moment.

Click to expand. If you buy the retail version of Leopard though, who cares. Apple gets their $$ either way seeing how you paid for the OS disc. This situation is more like buying DVD movie at Best Buy, then ripping it to another disc for safe keeping just incase anything happens to the original.
Sure, it's 'illegal' under the DMCA (so is loading your iPod up with MP3/AAC compressed tracks from that CD you purchased), but you paid for it, they got their money, and you're not distributing the copied product in any way/shape/form. I've noticed that there seem to be threads that have served as a central thread for Dell/HP owners, so I figured those of us that have Vaio's need a home. I installed Leo 10.5.2 via Leo4All v2, then, after several days of reinstalls while working through kext issues, i've made it all the way up to 10.5.4 using a stock 9.4.0 kernel. I'm using a Sony Vaio VGN-498E/W. Obviously there are a lot of revisions of the Vaio out there, but for those of us that have the more modern versions, I think we have similar equipment. Sorry to bump on such an old post, but I happen to have this very same Vaio model Thanks USMarshall for compiling this kext best practices.
As this laptop is now older I believe some people (like me) will be more interested in tinkering and messing with it. Does anyone know if the video/wifi issues have been improved/worsened with the newer 10.5.5 and 10.5.6 versions? I really appreciate any feedback as I am about to install OSX on my Vaio in order to play a bit with the iPhone SDK. Thanks a lot!

Hello, I am new to this Forum and am trying to get everything to work with mac OSX 105.2 on my Sony Vaio vgn-nr498e. I have the osx up and running but I don't have wireless internet, ethernet jacks don't work, nor can I get my video working in 1280x800 resolution. I have been reading on the forums I am guessing I need a modified intelGMAX3100FB.kext.
I am going to build a Hackintosh with an I5 processor but for the time being i would like to get it fully operational on my Vaio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 initially and picked the vanille kernal. I also used the Gmax 3100 as my graphics. Initially I got a blue screen but i could hear the startup movie.
I found a fix for that on these forums just don't remember what i did. I typed some stuff in related to the video before osx booted. That got rid of the blue screen.
